Never Miss a Post

I gave my group members a little tip about decluttering on Sunday, and this morning when walking the dogs, I was reminded about a post a friend wrote about friendships, and it got me to thinking.

As our life changes, our friendship circle also changes, in fact everyone we socialise with changes.

I have for a long time been surrounded by a lot of people that take, or only give when something is expected in return. The friendships have been very transactional. This was even true for my romantic relationships as well.

This type of relationship, either romantic or platonic, no longer serves me.

So what does this have to do with decluttering? Well you see, as you grow, things change. Your mindset shifts. Things that used to matter to you no longer do. And things that never bothered you, suddenly will.

Remember, the same principles apply to life and your home, what you are surrounded by, you become.

I used to be a people pleaser. Nothing was too much, yet I was taken for complete granted. Until it was. Until I started to see my worth.

Constantly being told what I wanted to do wouldn’t work, putting me down, laughing at my dreams, all the while taking so much from me and me allowing it, which in turn was not allowing me to live my life on purpose. Of course that was not all people in my circle, but a huge percentage.

Now, I have an amazing group of people around me that only support, lift me up and provide appropriate feedback supplied with love, not from a place of fear or control.

So, what’s the point of this post? Well, when was the last time you had a really deep think about who you surround yourself with? When did you last declutter? Are you putting your energies into the wrong people? Are you constantly being dragged down with drama, or felt taken advantage of? I know I used to feel that way. But since I have stepped up into my own power, I’ve realised that the drama in my life I was actually inviting by being around these people.

When you stop worrying what people will think about you, only then will you truly shine.

Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself.
